Golf Balls and Beaches

I have not been going out much since the arrival of my sister, Ashley and my parents were feeling a little guilty about not giving me as much attention as before, so they decided to make it up to me and try to include me in their outings as much as possible.

Dad found a golf driving range near our new place and took the whole family out to watch him swing some clubs. That was not exactly a good idea cause the whole time, I was trying to be Dad's caddie to help him retrieve his golf balls and Mom had a hard time controlling me, so it looks like this is going to be my last trip to the driving range. Sigh.....

I kept a close watch on Ashley while they had dinner there.

The weather looked good on Saturday and we decided to go to the White Sand Beach which is about half an hour's drive from home. It was a really hot day, so Ashley stayed at home with Grandma.

The beach certainly looked inviting, but the sand was too scorching hot and the heat was unbearable and so, we did not go into the water.

There are many shops like this selling floats and beach wear.

We ended up in Hana's Beach Cafe for shelter and lunch.

Dad had Beef with Rice and Mom had Tuna Omelet.

It was nice to stay out of the sun, guess we will have to conquer the beach again either in the evenings or when it is cooler.

I did not go swimming, but I was sure exhausted after the day's outing. ZZZzzz...

Ashley's First Checkup

Two days after turning one month old, Ashley went for her first checkup at the hospital.

First, she had her temperature taken.

Then, she was put on the scale, she was 3.4kg/7.5lbs at birth and now she is almost 5kg/11lbs.

This was followed by measuring her height. She was 49 cm/19.3 in and now she is 55 cm/21.7 in.

Next was getting her first month's vaccination. Ouch!

She let out her loudest cry since birth and her face turned bright red.

5 seconds later, she was snoozing.....Zzzzz.... Guess it was not that painful after all.

Finally, she got her ears checked and she passed the hearing tests on both ears.

That same night, Dad watched TV while she slept on his chest. Just look at that mouth! It cracks me up!

Ashley, I can't wait to share my toys with you!

Woohoo!!! Ashley is One Month Old!!!

Can you believe it? My baby sister turned one month old last Saturday! Time really flies, but Mom says that it feels more like a year to her. LOL!!!

We ordered Full Month Cookies from Black as Chocolate to distribute to our friends.

Ashley received a gold anklet from Dad's Mom.

And a red packet from Mommy's Mom.

After her bath, she did some stretching exercises before Dad, Mom and Grandma brought her out. They went for a steamboat lunch and then on to Carrefour for some grocery shopping.

At night, they headed off to Mom's favorite Korean Restaurant for dinner. Mommy's confinement is finally over, I can't wait to go out and have fun with the whole family soon!

Granny and Auntie Beh's Visit

Granny and Auntie Beh were here to visit last week, they did not get to go out very much due to the typhoon, but they did get to spend a lot of time with Ashley and I.

Here is a short clip of Ashley sleeping. As you can see, she is a very noisy baby, she makes all sorts of funny noises when she sleeps.

Update on Typhoon Morakot:
Big thank you to those of you who dropped us messages to check on us. We are all very fine and safe in Taipei which is located up north of Taiwan, however the folks further south of Taiwan were badly affected. It has been a week since Typhoon Morakot, many lives were lost and houses were damaged. The weather has not been good for the past few days and this has been hampering the rescue efforts. Many people are still waiting to be saved from the disaster. Please cross your paws for The Taiwanese victims of this terrible typhoon and pray that they get reunited with their loved ones and have their lives back to normal soon.

Happy Papa's Day!!!

Today is August 8 and it is Father's Day in Taiwan. It is not a public holiday, but it is widely observed here at this time of the year. In Mandarin Chinese, the pronunciation of the number 8 is bā. This pronunciation is very similar to the character "爸" "bà", which means "Papa" or "Father". The Taiwanese, therefore, usually refer August 8 as "Bābā Day" (爸爸節).

By the way, we were hit by Typhoon Morakot and have been cooped up at home for the last two days. The weather has cleared up today and it looks like a perfect day to celebrate Father's Day.

Here's wishing all Papas out there a Happy Father's Day from us in Taipei!

Pretty in Pink!

Ashley has been receiving so many presents recently. I get very excited whenever a package arrive as I am always hoping that there is something for me. She got so many lovely outfits and toys, I hope she will share some with me. Hmm...

First, let me show you what Uncle Bryan and Uncle Federico got for her from Hong Kong.

A girl can never have enough pink!

By the way, my other Grandma (Dad's Mom) and Aunty Beh arrived yesterday and they will be staying for about 5 days. I was so happy to see them for the first time and guess what, they brought presents for Ashley, but nothing for me! Growl...

I can hardly keep up with her gifts!!! More pressies photos coming soon!

A New Summer Cut

Roar!!! Hear the Lion Roar!!!!

So this is my new summer cut, it is a hair-cut for golden retrievers quite unique to Taipei as I have never seen this hairstyle anywhere else before.

The groomer gave me a nifty bandana after the shave.

Look at what's left with my tail!

I have furry boots too!

Did I hear you giggling at me?

Remember the horrific hot spots that I had two years ago?

I was shaved for the first time then. This time round, the cut is a lot fancier, don't you think?

The ticks are gone, but I still have to wear the dreaded e-collar. Grandma has been cleaning my wounds several times a day and they are healing well. Sigh... can't wait to get the collar off!

Here's wishing everyone a fun, safe and tick-free summer!
